Amazon has become the largest online shopping and delivery business in the United States. Amazon is extremely customer-focused. You would be hard-pressed to find a customer that could not return a product or receive satisfactory service when purchasing from an Amazon reseller. Even when it costs Amazon to make the situation right.

Amazon drivers face the task of gaining access to limited access communities every day. However, when a driver cannot gain access those packages have to be set up for re-delivery the same day or the next day. This cost time and money for the drivers and sometimes the customer.

In an effort to minimize, and hopefully eliminate the lack of access. Amazon has developed a secure access device that allows delivery to limited-access communities. The device is completely FREE to the community. The device is secure. The device is warrantied and serviced by Amazon trained technicians.

With Key for Business, Amazon drivers only enter secured areas after being verified via the Amazon Delivery App, and they follow step-by-step delivery instructions that guide them to leave packages in the location that works best for building owners and managers.

Reduces Theft and Loss – Packages that are left outside are often lost and stolen. By allowing Amazon drivers into the gated community reduces package theft with delivery to secured areas.

Reduces Shared Callbox Access Codes – reduces security vulnerability from shared delivery codes.

We have received a lot of interest in the Amazon access system. We have attempted to answer many questions in this FAQ, hopefully, we’ve answered yours. If not please send us your question and we will answer you personally as well as update this page.

Why is Amazon offering this service?
When you think about the number of packages delivered each day; even a small percentage of packages that can not be delivered on the first attempt add up quickly. Efficient use of the drivers time, fuel costs, and customer satisfaction all provide a reason to seek the best delivery methods.
Can my gate service company perform the install?
Amazon has created a training program that needs to be completed before a company is allowed to join the service and installation team. Amazon has found within a selected area a select group of outstanding, qualified, recommended companies to complete this program. This ensures communities that reputable, properly insured, qualified service technicians are performing the installations.
Are there any restrictions on where the device can be installed?
Multi-unit buildings and gated communities with 10 units or more are eligible.
We have multiple entrances. Can the device be installed at each one?
The device is installed at one entrance to a gated community and to one door entry door at a multi-dwelling building. The community can choose which door or entrance.

GPS coordinates are stored in the drivers’ APP that directs them to the correct location.

Will this device interfere with our normal gate operation?
The device requires power and relay connection to the existing gate operator. The device is a very low power (similar to a 1994 cell phone charger) and should not pose any power issue to the currently installed system. If the gate controller has an open input the device can be connected at this location. This allows for quick diagnosis if any issues arise.

The device has been installed across the United States at more than 10,000 locations. We do not have any reports of the device interferring with normal gate operations.

How large is the device?

The device measures 5.9″ W x 5.9″ H x 1.1″ D. In most cases it will be installed inside the existing gate operator or gate controller enclosure. If it can not be installed in either of these locations then an external weather-resistant enclosure will be used which measures 8″ W x 8″ H x 4″ D.

How much power does the device draw?

The device is very low power using between 1.6-1.9W of power. This equates to about $0.25 per month.
